Shiloh Farmstead

In addition to our little flock of babydoll sheep, we’ve begun adding Katahdins, acquired from local farmers, at Shiloh Meadows Farm. They are beautiful and curious, and are growing happily in their paddocks. We are experimenting with Katahdins for their larger carcass size, and higher meat quality than the dual-purpose babydolls that we started with.

Besides the new sheep, we’ve added some retired hens from Fergs Family Farm. They wander about aimlessly, occasionally eating bugs or randomly laying eggs. For the most part they are here decorations and entertainment. Daddy helped me build an egg box for them on the outside of the fence, so Murphy, the LGD, can’t eat them. The hens hop over the fence at will, and happily lay in the box.

Stacey and I helped each other harvest this year’s honey crop. We have 1 pound jars for $20, 1/2 pound jars for $10, and 1.5 pound jars with comb for $25. Reach out for a bottle!
